The art of resilience: Celebrate with me on September 9th
Rewarding to celebrate a public art commission I started during Covid.
You are invited to attend the official opening, unveiling of the Hub's plaque & visit the site specific public artwork, interact with the community over food, and a self-guided tour of the new build.
The Project began with the ideas of potency of memory & the importance of 'listening' to story.
I met with the Elders at the
onset to introduce them to this project and invited them to name the project. The title of the artwork is 'Buwi Birrip Djerring'.
Buwi Birrip Djerring is translated by Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung elder Aunty Gail Smith, from the words 'Weave Thread Create Together'.
A privilege to listen to the community in and around Moonee Ponds, Victoria, Australia.
Community consultations were rich and varied.
The Djerring Flemington Hub & the artwork will be celebrated on Saturday September 9, at 11am. Parking limited*
I'd love to sight you on the grounds of the Djerring Flemington Hub
